Getting a campsite:
bulletReserve early! Camping season can be very busy, and reservations may be difficult assure as the season progresses.
bulletCheck the National Recreation Reservation Service online site, or call 1-877-444-6777 (toll free), TDD: 1-877-833-6777, International: (518) 885-3639,  to see if campsites are available.  If not, check with the campground, when possible, for non-reserveable site occupancy.  Sometimes campground reservations will be filled while non-reserveable sites are still available, especially if you arrive mid-week.  Not all campgrounds have reserveable sites!  The Forest Service normally designates 20% of their campsites as reserveable, but this can vary depending on the particular Forest's policies.  Most campsites within USDA National Forests are occupied on a "first arrival" basis.
bulletIf you have reservations, make sure you obtain a confirmation number from the Reservation Service - bring the confirmation receipt for check-in.
bulletUnder Forest Service Rules, Campground Hosts are not allowed to reserve sites.
